About the Trip

Enjoy a 30-hour fishing experience traveling over 350 miles round trip. The adventure begins at noon as we set out toward the rigs in the Gulf of America. Once offshore, we’ll start with some deep dropping for swordfish.

By sunset, we’ll approach the rigs and target tuna throughout the night. As the sun rises the next morning, we’ll pull lures and bait while targeting billfish throughout the day. We’ll finish the trip with a relaxing ride home before the sun sets.

About the Boat

Our brand-new 2026 Freeman 42LR joins the fleet for the 2027 fishing season, built from the hull up as a serious offshore fishing platform. Freeman’s 42-foot catamaran pairs 1,700 horsepower with a full Garmin and Airmar fish-finding package, dual trolling motors, and a cockpit laid out for tackle, bait, and fish handling.

It’s equally ready for a long run to the grounds and a full day once you get there, with cushioned shock-absorbing seating, Starlink Wi-Fi, and a plumbed head on board.

FAQ

What type of trips do you offer?

Leatherneck Sport Fishing specializes in 30-hour offshore trips, covering more than 350 miles round trip to reach the fish most boats can’t get to. You’ll be fishing aboard our brand-new 2027 Freeman 42′, powered by quad 425 HP V10 outboards and rigged with the latest gear, including Furuno Omni Sonar and LP electric reels. It’s fast, comfortable, and built to put you on fish far offshore.

What do I need to bring with me if I book a trip?

A good attitude, plus a few fishing-day basics. Pack whatever food and drinks you’d like and bring them aboard; we’ll stow everything for you (please leave the ice chests at home). Don’t forget sunglasses, sunscreen (lotion only)*, and rain gear if the forecast calls for it. And of course, bring your friends and family!
*Spray lotion can become a slipping hazard on the boat. Apply before getting on the boat.  Fishing license required

What time should I show up for my trip?

Trips meet at the dock at depart promptly at noon

We say NEED TIME, but time varies depending on time of year and weather conditions. Offshore Captains will call or text you 1-2 days in advance of your trips, and our inshore guides will contact you the afternoon before your trip. You’ll pick the right time then.

What happens if my trip gets cancelled due to weather?

Weather can affect any trip, though offshore runs are more sensitive to it than inshore ones. If conditions aren’t safe and we have to cancel, don’t worry: your deposit stays valid for up to one year from your original trip date. Please note that deposits are non-refundable. To reschedule a weather-cancelled trip, just email or call Captain Dave Sears.

What is the best time to fish?

Offshore fishing in the Gulf of Mexico is a year-round affair. Check out our home page to see which species are running at different times of the year. As a general rule, summer brings steady action with mahi and king mackerel on the bite, while fall and winter are prime time for big yellowfin tuna. Whatever the season, there’s always something to target offshore.

How far in advance do I have to book?

Gulf trips tend to book up 6 to 8 months in advance, no matter the season. September and October are especially popular with the fall bull red run, and those dates go fast. We open the calendar for the coming year each June, and many of our returning anglers lock in their trips for the second half of the year right then. Don’t wait until the last minute to get on the water!

Do you keep a waiting list?

No, we do not. Book online, first come, first serve

What is your refund policy?

In the event you can’t make your trip we can reschedule for another booking.    Any cancellations inside 30 days are not refunded.
